Classic Cocktails
Grimace and Grin
Grimace and Grin
Cocktails flavoured with sweets are very fashionable, which is probably indicative of how enthusiastically a new, young generation is rediscovering the joys of mixed drinks.
Serves 15-20
90 g/3 oz sharp-flavoured jellybeans, such as sour cherry,
lemon and apple
40% bottle vodka, about
525ml/18floz
Reserve 30 g/1 oz of the jelly beans and place the remainder in a microwave proof or heatproof bowl. Add about 4 tablespoons of the vodka. Either microwave until the jellybeans have melted or set the bowl over a pan of barely simmering water and heat unt the beans have melted. Pour the mixture through a funnel and mix with the vodka remaining in the bottle and add the reserved jellybeans. Replace cap and chill in the refrigerator for a: least 2 hours.
To serve, shake the bottle vigorously then pour into chilled cocktail glasses.
