FBR
A number of cocktails are known simply by initials. In this case, FBR stands for Frozen Brandy and Rum. Others seem to be quite obscure and, in one or two instances, slightly naughty.
serves 1
6-8 crushed ice cubes
2 measures brandy 1'/2 measures white rum
1 tbsp lemon juice
tsp sugar syrup
1 egg white
Put the crushed ice into a blender ar add the brandy, rum, lemon juice, suga' syrup and egg white. Blend until slushx. Pour into a chilled highball glass.
Acronymic cocktails
KGB (presumably, Komityet Gosudarstvyennoi Byezopasnosti):
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Dash apricot brandy and lemon juice over the ice and pour in 1/2 measures gin and 1/2 measure kummmel. Shake vigorously until a frost forms, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
MQS (Mary Queen of Scots):
rub the rim of a chilled cocktail glass with a wedge of lemon, then dip into a saucer of caster sugar to frost. Put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 2 measures Scotch whisky, 1 measure Drambuie and 1 measure green Chartreuse over the ice and stir to mix. Strain into the prepared glass.
ABM (Absolutely Bloody Marvellous):
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cockta shaker. Dash Worcestershire sauce ove' the ice and pour in 2 measures Absolut vodka and 4 measures tomato juice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Half fill a chilled tumbler with cracked ice cubes and strain the cocktail over the glass.
BVD (Brandy, Vermouth and Dubonne:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 1 measure brandy, 1 measure dry vermouth and 1 measure Dubonne over the ice. Stir to mix and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Although it has the same name, a modern BVD contains 1 measure white rum, 1 measure gin and 1 measure dry vermouth.
