Faux Kir
Faux Kir
A non-alcoholic version of a classic wine cocktail, this drink is just as colourful and tasty. French and Italian fruit syrups are often the best quality and have the most flavour.
serves 7
1 measure chilled raspberry syrup
chilled white grape juice, to top up
twist of lemon peel, to decorate
Pour the raspberry syrup into a chilled wine glass. Top up with the grape juice. Stir well to mix and decorate with the lemon twist.
Variations
Faux Kir Royale:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 1 '/2 measures raspberry syrup over the ice. Stir well to mix, then strain into a wine glass. Top up with chilled sparkling apple juice and stir.
Knicks Victory Cooler:
half fill a tall, chilled tumbler with cracked ice cubes. Pour 2 measures apricot juice over the ice and top up with raspberry soda and stir gently. Decorate with a spiral of orange peel and fresh raspberries. Cocoberry; rub 90 g/3 oz raspberries through a metal strainer with the back of a spoon and transfer the puree to a blender. Add 4-6 crushed ice cubes, 1 measure coconut cream and 150 ml/
5 fl oz pineapple juice. Blend until smooth, then pour the mixture, without straining, into a chilled tumbler. Decorate with pineapple wedges and fresh raspberries.
All Shook Up:
put 60 g/2 oz mixed strawberries and raspberries, 4 measures chilled milk, 4 measures chilled natural yogurt and 1 teaspoon rosewater into a blender. Blend until smooth, then pour into a chilled tumbler. Stir in 1 teaspoon clear honey and decorate with a strawberry and a raspberry. Serve with straws.
