Chopping boards are used in every kitchen and most households around the globe, they are now color coded in order to prevent cross contamination, as with the wooden cutting boards there was no way to tell and they were known for harbouring bacteria.

You can put plastic cutting boards in the dishwasher, Although regular wooden cutting boards can not go into a machine and must be steep in hot soapy water and scrubed. The colors for the different cutting boards are as follows:

Brown - Root vegatables (carrots, turnups etc)

Green - Fruit and Veg (tomatoes, cucumbers, lemons etc)

Red - Raw Meat

Yellow - Cooked Meat

Blue - Fish

White - Dairy products (cheese etc)
