Black Russian
Black Russian
History records only White and Red Russians. The omission of the Black Russian is a sad oversight. For a coffee liqueur, you can use either Tia Maria or Kahlua, depending on your personal taste - the latter is sweeter.
serves 7
4-6 cracked ice cubes
2 measures vodka measure coffee liqueur
Put the cracked ice cubes into a small, chilled highball glass. Pour the vodka and liqueur over the ice. Stir to mix.
Tall Black Russian:
make a black Russian in a tumbler and top up with cola. Cream Russian: put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour 2 measures vodka, 1 measure coffee liqueur and 1 measure single cream over the ice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Pour, without straining, into a chilled tumbler.
White Russian:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 2 measures vodka and 1 measure white creme de menthe over the ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Russian:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 1 measure vodka, 1 measure gin and 1 measure white creme de cacao over the ice. Stir to mix and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Russian Bear:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour 2 measures vodka, 1 measure dark creme de cacao and 2 measure single cream over the ice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Yeltsin:
put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a mixing glass. Pour 2 measures vodka, 1 measure dry vermouth and 1 measure medium sherry over the ice. Stir well and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Squeeze lemon peel over.
