California Smoothie
California Smoothie
Smoothies of all sorts - alcoholic and non-alcoholic - have become immensely popular in the last two or three years. The secret of success is to blend them on medium speed until just smooth.
serves 7
1 banana, peeled and thinly sliced 60 g/2 oz strawberries 90 g/3 oz stoned dates
4'/2 tsp clear honey
250 ml/9 fl oz orange juice
4-6 crushed ice cubes
Put the banana, strawberries, dates
and honey into a blender and blend unti
smooth.
Add the orange juice and crushed ice
cubes and blend again until smooth. Pour
into a chilled Collins glass.
Smooth as silk
Apricot Smoothie:
put 4-6 crushed ice cubes into a blender. Add 2 peeled, stoned and roughly chopped apricots, 2 measures pineapple juice, 1 measure lime juice and
1 measure cherry syrup. Blend until smooth, then pour into a chilled tumbler.
Pineapple Smoothie:
put 4-6 crushed ice cubes into a blender and add
2 measures pineapple juice, 1 measure lime juice and 1/2 banana. Blend until smooth, then pour into a chilled tumbler.
Mango Smoothie:
put 4-6 crushed ice cubes into a blender and add 1 measure
lime juice, 1 small, peeled, stoned and chopped mango and 2 hulled strawberries. Blend until smooth, then pour the mixture into a chilled goblet. Decorate with a strawberry and a slice of lime.
Papaya Smoothie:
put 4-6 crushed ice cubes into a blender and add 175 ml/ 6 fl oz orange juice, 1 peeled and sliced banana, 1/2 peeled and diced papaya, 1 + 1/2 teaspoons clear honey and 1 teaspoon vanilla essence. Blend until smooth, ther pour into a chilled tumbler.
