A surprising number of cocktails are named after ghouls, ghosts and things that go bump in the night. It seems unlikely that this one will get you wailing (except with delight), but it might make your hair stand on end.

serves 7

4-6 cracked ice cubes
2 measures creme de banane
1 measure creme de cacao
1 measure single cream

Put the cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour the creme de banane, creme de cacao and single cream over the ice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Strain into a chilled wine glass. Supernatural cocktails

Red Witch:

put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour 2 measures Pernod and 1 measure blackcurrant cordial over the ice. Shake until a frost forms. Pour into a chilled wine glass and top up with chilled dry cider.

White Witch:

put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour 2 measures white rum, 1 measure triple sec and 1 measure white creme de cacao over the ice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Half fill a chilled tumbler with cracked ice cubes and strain the cocktail over them. Top up with sparkling mineral water.

Black Magic:

put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Pour 2 measures vodka and 1 measure Tia Maria over the ice. Shake vigorously until a frost forms. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Enchantment:

put 4-6 cracked ice cubes into a cocktail shaker. Dash dry vermouth and orange bitters over the ice and pour in 2 measures Canadian whisky and 1 measure blue Curacao. Shake vigorously until a frost forms, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Leprechaun:

put 4-6 crushed ice cubes into a blender. Pour in 2 measures Irish whiskey, 1 measure white rum, 1 measure lemon juice, 1 measure sloe gin, '/2 teaspoon sugar syrup A peeled, stoned and sliced peach. Blend until slushy. Pour into a small, chilled tumbler and decorate with raspberries.
